Brothers and Sisters in Christ
The Church of God is for love, truth, peace, kindness, gentleness, compassion, forgiveness and joy. These beautiful gifts are the tools which are needed now, as they have always been, for the building and rejuvenation of our society. Society has always had people in need: the poor, the hungry and the lost. It is our mission as Christians to reach out to those in need, with both gentleness and love, in truth and forgiveness. To reach out without judgement, all the while remaining steadfast in the Orthodox faith, and with that faith, which strengthens us and guides us, to truly love our neighbour as we are commanded to by our Lord. The value of worldly things is a fickle fantasy; whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but he who loses his life for the sake of God will save it. We have but one life to live, let us not waste the gift but live as we have been called, as stewards of God.
The phenomenon of globalization has created a smaller world. However, instead of bringing a greater sense of community, we are further isolated from what it is that makes us human. The pursuit of money, power and fame are illusions that will vanish at the time of our death. True riches are found in joy and love. These are found in Christ our God. Christ teaches us by his example that we should love each other as we love ourselves, and we should above all things love the Father who first loved us and who by this love created us. If we do these things, then, the smaller world in which we find ourselves will cease to be a place of loneliness and isolation; instead, it will become a place of a personal mission, of purpose and of fellowship.
There is a part in every human that is sensitive to the presence of the Divine. This presence is with us throughout our lives. However, not all will notice it. The Church teaches us how to meet the One who is ever knocking on the door of our hearts. Let us be still so that we may hear. Let us grow wise that we may know. Let us be loved that we may love.
We warmly invite you to participate in our church outreach and other events; that we may love one another as Christ has loved us.
